What to expect

Pre Shoot

Once you've secured your booking, I'll contact you within the following days to arrange our pre shoot consultation.

The aim of the pre shoot consultation is for me to understand more about you and your horse, along with any visions you may have for the desired outcome.

I like to build a visual picture before a shoot, so understanding the characteristics of your horse gives me a good insight to begin the planning process, the rest we can work out on the day.

If you have specific shots in mind that you'd like to capture then great, we can note these down and work on them throughout the shoot. If not, that's no problem at all, I can suggest scenarios that I know will work.

Many clients don't always have specific shots in mind and that's what I'm here for.

Days leading to the shoot

In the days leading up to the shoot I'll contact you to ensure everything is all set for our shoot day. This gives us time to make any last minute adjustments that may need to be considered.

If we're experiencing bad weather during this time and you decide this will impact the outcome, we can re schedule for a better day where weather is improved.

Shoot day

On the day of the shoot, I'll arrive at your chosen location at the agreed time discussed in our pre consultation call.

The camera stays in the car at this point as I always like to meet the client and the star of the show before any work gets underway. this gives me a chance to meet your horse and settle any nerves if there are any. My goal is to make everybody comfortable and to enjoy the day.

I'll take a walk around the area so I can assess scenery opportunities, wether its a large open field with a great backdrop or an entrance to a barn for a beautiful black background fine art portrait shot.

Once we're all set with our sequence of events, it's time for the kit to make it's appearance.

I'll set up all the necessary equipment required for the day, and if needed I'll take a walk to our locations for some image testing to assess lighting and any other contributing factors.

Although not always necessary, I do advise at least one outfit change. This can range from full riding gear with horse tacked up jumping in the arena, to riding bareback in a wedding dress, the choice is yours depending on your desired vision.

During the shoot you can ask as many questions as you like as this day is about you and your companion. If you come up with new ideas as we're going through then we can adjust to suit.

Having horses myself I know it can be hard to keep them occupied for long periods of time so we can adapt to whatever scenarios we may face.

Don't panic if you're wondering about getting the horses ears forward...We have a great trick for that ;)

Once we've taken all of our shots it's time to pack away and pull the treat bag out for your horse!

Post Shoot

Following the shoot I'll back up all of the images and begin the editing process. I aim to edit and make your gallery available for viewing within 2 weeks of the shoot.

All images will be accessible through a password protected online gallery, where you can choose your images for your selected package, with the option to purchase additional if desired.
